Would he included himself and his family then in that description. Considering many wonder why we still have a 'royal family', if not for only 'tourism' reasons?

Ah the mutterings of an 87 year old, whoever said 'with age comes maturity and wisdom' obviously didn't have Prince Phillp in mind.

She admitted only recently that she was not particuarly good and putting on a 'good face' in all situations and I am sure that she must be bored out of her brain with some of the things she has to do, she is after all in her 80's.

I think the Queen should insist on passing on ALL of her 'boring' and tedious duties to Camilla (and Camilla can't be allowed to get out of them either), thus freeing up the Queen to do only the truly important and interesting stuff. That should well and truly make Camilla's life a living hell and may make her regret she stole another woman's husband and life.

Frankly storm in a tea cup situation and let's move on there are more things to concern us nowadays than whether the Queen was all that happy to have her photo taken imho.
I think that she will hand Charles and Camilla some of the more 'ardous' duties like tours to hot climes (8-);)) and the more tedious things to do with being a royal, but keep the more important things for herself like the opening of parliament and the trooping of the colour. She will not abdicate, imho that's just not in her makeup, she is loyal and respectful of her station and knows that do so, would be akin to breaking her promise she made on her coronation day and that is just not what she is about.

Charles on the hand can't keep a promise imho, or at least only when it suits him, so he might when he has had enough of being King and Camilla has either pass on before him or grown tired of the few duties she does and wants to do even less, will probably be more inclined to abdicate imho.

But the reality is that the Queen is not getting any younger and while she may cut back, she won't cut and run. I think that also by the time William has done his service in the RAF, if that goes ahead, he will be more than ready to pick up any slack as well.

I know this may sound mean but I just hope that the Queen remains long enough for Camilla to not hear people refer to her as 'your majesty', as they must when she becomes the Queen Consort, or that she is to tired to truly enjoy these 'formalities'. Mean I know but she has imho not earnt the right.

Never mind low-energy lightbulbs... is it time to sell a palace or two?

I can understand her wanting the palaces maintenance tab being picked up by the taxpayer, after all the palaces do belong to the people and she effectively is just the sitting tenant, but that is as far as it should go.

She should put something towards the running costs after all it she that is being kept warm, should she not contribute to that. And at the end of the day is short a few I am sure the sale of a few expensive racing thoroughbreds would help with the costs.
